Nuts and Bolts

Snowboarding is an individual sport.  Snowboarders are true individuals.  We don’t choose to rally around a ball against another team as our competition.  Yes we have competition and we choose to go up against them, but why?  There are many ways we can describe the reasons we spend each weekend from December to April training and traveling and entering contests and races to only take a couple runs. At the core I think there is one BIG motivator, ourselves.  We are competing with ourselves to be our best, to go our biggest, our fastest. Push ourselves to learn new tricks and techniques.  It comes down to a desire to be the best individual in our own eyes.

This first weekend of December (Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd) is the start of our Mount Snow Training Center Competition Program.

We will meet at 8am between the Clock Tower and Cape House in the patch of snow just below the Canyon and Bluebird Lifts.  The program will run until 2:30 and we will wrap up in the same spot.  If your rider has permission to go off on their own after the program please let Nancy Logan know in the Training Center.

We will eat lunch between 11:30 and 12:00 depending on needs, in the Main base lodge, please prepare accordingly with a bag lunch or money for the cafeteria.

I will be hosting a Parent Meeting at 1:30 upstairs in the Training Center to share philosophy, training practices, expectations, code of conduct, and to answer questions.  We will also talk about goal setting and competition schedules.

The conditions have been variable due to the temperature changes from top to bottom of the hill this time of year.  Please wax your board, sharpen edges, and dress in layers to get the most out of the day.

We have a great group of coaches this season and a terrific group of returning riders.  I am really looking forward to an awesome season.

The Development Program starts up next weekend, December 9th and 10th.  The Meeting place is the same but the timing is different.  8:45 meet up 12:45 Pickup.

Shredding Soon
