Mount Snow Minute 18: Reggaefest!
Tuesday, March 20, 2018
What do you do when the calendar says Spring, but the conditions say Winter? You throw a weekend-long party and invite all your friends to help you celebrate the great ski season! That’s exactly what we’re doing this weekend with our annual Bud Light Reggaefest. We've got live music Friday-Sunday, along with activities and events each day, so there’s really something for everyone this weekend at Mount Snow.
First, let’s talk music. I can safely say this is one of the best Reggaefest lineups I have seen at Mount Snow, and it all kicks off Friday evening with Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad with special guests Rebel Alliance . Then on Saturday, the music flows out onto the Cuzzins stage starting at noon with The Alchemystics followed by Roots of Creation at 1:30pm, and all capped off by The Original Wailers who take the stage at 3:30pm. But that’s just the warm-up. The party continues over at The Snow Barn with Passafire with special guests Psychotic Submarines , but be sure to buy tickets in advance, as this show will sell out!
Also on Saturday, we’ll be hosting our annual Bud Light Sink or Skim pond skimming contest, where competitors will try their luck at skimming across our custom-built 100-foot-long pond in the hopes of making it to the other side and winning a 2018/19 Peak Pass . Registration starts at 11am in the Main Base Lodge right by Tony’s Pizza, but be sure to be there on time, as this fills up quickly! Then, join us in the Main Base Area at noon for thrills, spills, and chills (this ain’t no hot tub) as we cheer on the competitors.
Then on Sunday, the fun continues at The Bud Light Duct Tape Derby . A Mount Snow favorite, The Duct Tape Derby has grown into one of the most fun and family-friendly events of the year. Teams build their custom crafts out of only cardboard, duct tape, zip ties and paint in a contest the rewards creativity and engineering. The judging starts at 11am, with awards being given out for: Best Slider, Most Creative, Best Kids Only Sled, and Judges Choice. Then at noon, we see how these designs hold up, as they rocket down the tubing hill in the hope of making it to the bottom intact. As the sleds start sliding, the music cranks up again for another day of Spring celebration with concerts from The Big Takeover and Sabouyouma from noon until 4pm.
With sunny skies and warm temps, this is going to be a weekend you won’t want to miss. Speaking of not-to-be-missed weekends, tickets for this year’s Minus Zero Festival are quickly selling out, so hurry and get yours today before they’re gone for good. Tickets, packages, and lodging available at www.minuszerofestival.com
See you out there!
