Mount Snow Minute #11: Passholder Appreciation Weekend
Tuesday, January 30, 2018
Well, we’ve got a ton to talk about this week, so I’m just going to hop right in. First up, resurfacing! After yet another temperature tantrum by Mother Nature, our snowmakers are once again out on the slopes and hitting things hard. Today alone, they engaged in snowmaking operations on all four mountain faces, which kept them running and gunning all day and night. The efforts of which, I personally sampled on Tuesday morning with a pre-public run down Canyon and was once again amazed by what these guys can do in just 12 hours of running. This snowmaking system, and the gentleman that run it, are truly unparalleled.
As for natural snow, what originally looked to be a solid little midweek storm on Thursday, has now lost a bit of steam. That being said, we should still pick up a few natural inches this week as we head into the start of what is historically our snowiest month. I know I for one will be doing a snowdance this week, and even tossing a pair or two of 210cm straight skis on a sacrificial bonfire to get üllr back on our side. You may laugh, but it works!
Also, on the docket for this week, we’ve got our Passholder Appreciation Weekend, full of events and activities all weekend long. First thing to mention, each and every Peak Pass will be valid this weekend, so if you’re a midweek passholder this is your time to come out and party with us all on the weekend. Other notable benefits this weekend include free tubing for passholders on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Speaking of free, we’ve got free smores at the tubing hill from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday, and then the annual wiener roast at the bottom of Charlie’s Chase on Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., so swing by as I’ll be manning the grill. Got a question about the mountain you’d like answered, swing by our Wine and Cheese Q&A with Mount Snow’s senior management team at the Grand Summit Resort Hotel Ballroom at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. There’s really too much to list it all here, so please check out the full list of events and activities at www.mountsnow.com/passholder
Then over in Carinthia, we’ve got one of our favorite events of the year, The Vans Hi-Standard Series. In a world full of dubs, triples, and quads, this contest is a refreshing throwback that’s focused on nothing but style. In fact, they don’t allow anything over a 720, as well as a full ban on flips. Instead, competitors need to rely on their buttery smooth style to impress the judges and win cold hard cash. My bet is that C-Team riders Shaun Murphy, Levi Gunzberg, Jeremy Ellenberg, and Zeb Powell, absolutely clean up and leave everyone else going home broke. Just a note though, pre-registration is completely full, so if you’re not yet registered, better luck next year!
Oh, and I almost forgot to mention one of the best parts. We’ll be having AM Express on both Saturday and Sunday this weekend, meaning passholders can take the Bluebird Express up at 7:30 a.m. on both mornings and ski through the sunrise.
It’s going to be a great weekend here at the mountain, so don’t miss out!
