Mount Snow Minute #7: Fresh Snow and Terrain Expansion
Thursday, January 19, 2017
Our snowmaking and grooming teams put in quite the effort to get the mountain ready for MLK weekend and it really showed. Then, yesterday they got a much welcomed helping hand from Ma Nature who decided to change her mind at the last minute and turn what was forecasted to be rain, into 9” of powder. With this storm came the opening of trails such as Ripcord, which opened with 8” of snow over a fresh groom.
Over in Carinthia, we also saw some new openings. The Gulch reopened in a newly rebuilt configuration that includes a new jump line at the bottom, and bigger features throughout, including the infamous spring rail. We also opened Inferno for the first time, which if you haven’t seen it yet, head over to the Carinthia Instagram account.
The openings are slated to continue through the weekend as we shoot to have nearly every trail open for weekend, so keep checking back at the Snow Report for up to date conditions and openings.
I could go on, but I’ll let Kelsey take it from here.
