Mount Snow Minute #2: Santa and Snowmaking

Wednesday, November 21, 2018

We're thankful for snow!

It's been quite the start to the season here at Mount Snow, with our snowmakers making a great push to open terrain as fast as they temps have allowed, and Mother Nature helping things along with over 20" of snow to date. Even as I type this, we are making snow on more than 10 trails across three mountain faces as we plan to expand into new terrain for the Thanksgiving weekend.

New trails opening soon include old favorites like Snowdance, N.E. Time, Plummet, and Nitro, which we're thinking we'll open all-whaled-up for your skiing and riding enjoyment through the weekend. More on that to come in The Snow Report.

Heading into the Thanksgiving Holiday, we're looking at an array of great events across the mountain, including The Turkey Hangover Hillclimb , where guests race each other up the mountain to win prizes. While this sounds a bit intimidating, we do offer shorter courses for the kids and those who are just looking to get out and enjoy a nice hike. It's a great way to burn off that delicious second helping that you went back for. While we're on the topic of Thanksgiving Dinner, save yourself the hassle this year and let our chefs prepare a Thanksgiving meal-to-go for you and your family, complete with all the fixings.

This Saturday also marks the return of Santa to Mount Snow, as he and Mrs. Claus help us kick off the first Torchlight Parade and Fireworks of the season . This is truly a special event and serves as our unofficial start to the events season here at Mount Snow, not to mention a quick way to get those holiday card done, with a free photo of your family with Santa! For a full list of events, including the first show this Friday at The Snow Barn featuring  DJ Yuri C , simply head over to mountsnow.com/events

Speaking of Santa, Christmas is coming early courtesy of Mount Snow Sports at The Grand which will be once again hosting their Annual Raffle on Saturday, with prizes ranging from tasty locally-baked pies, to a new pair of skis and a snowboard! Tickets are available for free starting on Thursday, all you need to do is swing by Mount Snow Sports at The Grand and ask for them. The drawing will be on Saturday, November 24 th starting at 3:00 p.m. and you must be present to win.

Also as we head into the weekend, we're going to see the doors opening on our new Carinthia Base Lodge, with the first floor opening Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m., offering limited services including, ticketing, retail, and restrooms. We will also see our first new restaurant open on the second floor, as High Timber Lounge opens featuring an early season menu. More updates on the rest of the lodge opening coming soon.

This Friday, we'll also see a return of The Station Taproom, which will be kicking off with a tap takeover from Lawson's Finest Liquids, with favorites on tap such as Double Sunshine, Sip of Sunshine and much, much more.

See you out there!
