Mount Snow Minute #7: Paul Pabst and xDRIVE
Wednesday, January 3, 2018
To say it’s been cold this past week, would surely be a bit of an understatement! That being said, I’d like to commend all of you hardy New Englanders who braved the temperatures, grabbed an extra facemask and some hand warmers, and proved true one of my favorite sayings; there’s no such thing as bad weather, just bad dressers. Those out there were rewarded with amazing snow conditions, including hidden powder stashes in the woods, and 100% of our trails open and ready to explore.
Looking forward into the week, we’re going to be picking up some more snow on Thursday with 4” forecasted as of right now, but with several outlets saying we could expect even more, so only time will tell. Once the snow stops on Friday morning, we’re headed right back into another spell of cold weather with the highs forecasted to be in the negative numbers both Friday and Saturday at the summit. There is a bight side to this however, as it will keep that new snow fluffy and nice through the weekend and beyond.
As for events and activities, on Thursday we’re going to see the return of Backside Night at The Snow Barn, this locals favorite is experiencing a rebirth after a lackluster showing last season, complete with the return of the $1 raffle benefiting Adaptive Sports at Mount Snow, half-price pizza, ski & snowboard movies, as well as live music. It’s great to have this long-time favorite coming back at full strength, and I for one know that I’ll be out there in support on Thursday. Then on Saturday, Space Bacon descends on Mount Snow with a night at The Snow Barn. If you missed their show last year, you really missed out on a great time. So, be sure and grab your tickets ahead of time and get ready to dance the night away.
This weekend also marks the return of the 2018 BMW Winter xDrive Experience, where you’ll have the ability to drive the full lineup of BMW SAV models, including the all-new X3 on a custom built snowcross course. Attendees will learn to master the winter elements from professional instructors with BMW’s all-wheel-drive xDrive system. Preregistration available at http://mtsnow.eventsbmw.com
Finally, this Sunday is our ever-popular Youth Day, with kids 17 and younger paying just $17 to ski for the day, and kids 6 and younger skiing for just $10. This is always a favorite every year, but remember to buy ahead of time online, as you wouldn’t want to miss out on such a great deal!
Well, I’m off to take a few runs, see you on the slopes! W
