Mount Snow Minute #13: Return to snowmaking!

Thursday, March 2, 2017

Winter is back, with colder temperatures, natural snowfall, and a return to snowmaking.

It’s been an interesting week here at the mountain, and while the warm temperatures provided some great spring skiing conditions over Presidents' Week, I am happy to announce a return to colder temperatures and natural snowfall. With these colder temps comes a restart of our snowmaking operations, which began this morning and is planned to continue through Saturday.

But, it’s not just snowmaking, we also have an extensive grooming plan in place to ensure the mountain is in great shape for skiing and riding this weekend. So, while some of you may have considered hanging up your boards for the season, there’s more than a month of skiing and riding ahead of us.

Looking towards the weekend we’ve got an event-filled few days here at the mountain. First up, our dinner and a movie series at the Snow Barn with a great snowboard film and raffle, followed by a live show by the Gaslight Tinkers. Then on Saturday the Red Bull All-Snow Series returns to Carinthia Parks, featuring a course built entirely out of snow, with an after party at the Snow Barn featuring DJ Brek.One. Then on Sunday we’re hosting the Jack Jump World Championships , which is truly an event that needs to be seen to be believed.

Also this weekend, BMW returns for the second round of its BMW Winter xDrive Experience , so if you’ve ever wanted to experience the feeling of true traction and control, schedule a test-drive today.

See you out there!
