First Snow of 2016-2017!
Friday, October 28, 2016
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you should be well aware that we just picked up our second snowfall of the season here at Mount Snow. In combination with the first storm, we’re now closing in on our first foot of snowfall for the 2016-17 winter season, which might actually be more than we received all of last year (just kidding, but kinda not kidding).
Here at Mount Snow, the first few snowfalls are like a birthday, Christmas, and the last day of school, all rolled into one. At first light this morning we were out measuring snow depth, debating on whether or not to break out the touring setups on rock skis, and lobbing the first few snowballs of the year at coworkers.
But, if our stoke level was measured at a 7, the C-Team over at Carinthia Parks were at a full 10! At 6am this morning, the park crew was already busy lining up what features they could, and athletes like Shaun Murphy we busy carving lines down the yet-to-be-built halfpipe, and hitting the first rails of the 2016-17 season. Stay tuned for the full video coming soon!
So, in order to help you all get on our level of excitement, I wanted to take the chance to share some of my favorite photos from this morning. Oh, and before you ask, we’re still planning on opening for Thanksgiving, but are ready to open early if conditions keep up like this.
