Crazy Hat (Helmet) Day!
Sunday, February 19, 2017
Finally, a Crazy Hat Day that was not subzero with 50 mph wind gusts. What a treat to see all of the awesome creations and to be able to take notes without our fingers freezing! I snapped a bunch of photos. I apologize in advance for those that I missed - I found that it is not easy being a judge and taking photos at the same time.
I don't know what I like more, their smiles or helmets. The snow globe (hamster ball) won a prize - nice work!
When this group walked away we discovered that the boy with the jungle on his helmet had a dinosaur lurking on the backside.
Maybe there is a wild a crazy guy under there. I admired the masterpiece on his helmet - look at those eyelashes!
One of my favorites - look at the detail. He and his mom made Ted out of clay.
The gal on the left with the clocktower reflection in her goggles won a prize - Best Homemade, I believe. She made all of their clothes and the Bluebird lift by hand. Her friend said she used "duct tape" to make that signature bead tree. Nice job ladies!
Each item on his helmet had a pricetag - I wonder if he sold any be the end of the say.
Another favorite of the judges - I believe he won Most Detail. Each gumball has a trail name stuck on it. I bet there are 87 gumballs!
More imaginative helmets. Southbowl was another award winner. How ingenious!
Bunnies, giraffes, burgers and kisses.
The ponytail is the clue to let you know this is her back - imagine skiing down the hill and seeing this!
These twins were ready for a snowball fight.
The new Grommet lift was a popular theme and a few kids showed off their lift building talents.
This trio won Best Team - what a well thought out creation!
I want to ski in my pajamas! What a great idea.
It took a lot of patience to build this helmet. And when he goes in for hot cocoa he can just pluck a few marshmallows off.
We asked if the purple wig was heavy...Yes! I love it! The spaghetti girl won a prize, too.
I started my morning with a delicious bite from this fella's helmet - thank you!!! And I love his photo with Devin Logan.
Jaws was another one of my favorites.
This guy got creative with a pair of nylons!
Everyone is hanging out in Grommet these days, even Legos and Minnions.
A lot of work went into these creations.
I will post more tomorrow!! Please check back as there are more amazing photos to load.
