Making Snow For Our Passholders!

Wednesday, February 24, 2016

I cannot tell a lie...we are actually making snow for everyone.  Once again, we will fire up the fan guns and make snow just in time for Passholder Appreciation Weekend, in hopes of making your special weekend a little better.  Last night we received 3" of snow and by this morning the precipitation had switched over to periods of wintry mix and rain.  Currently, it cannot seem to make up its mind.  Once the temps drop (Thursday night or Friday morning) our snowmakers will be ready to fire up the guns to resurface. With a very short window, our plan is to focus on the fan gun trails.

ersonally, I am getting a little tired of these snowstorms that end in rain.  I can't help day dreaming about how much snow we would have if the rain were to come down in the form of snowflakes.  But a wise parent once told me not to spend too much of my time on "what ifs."  Staying focused on the hard facts I can tell you that our snowmakers have been in production mode as much as previous years with about 20 less days. I believe we all witnessed how quickly we were able to rebound from the thaw/freeze events.  This was due to improvements made to the system that increased pressure, relocation of equipment and upgraded equipment and a very dedicated snowmaking crew.  In short, we made more snow in shorter time frames.

This weekend we celebrate the other heroes of Mount Snow...our passholders.  In a year like this one, we greatly appreciate your patronage and especially appreciate that you understand that even if Mother Nature does not drop a lot of natural snow, our snowmaking system is mighty enough to step in and provide lots of covered acreage.
