Closing Date UPDATED
Wednesday, March 25, 2015
This blog updated on March 30.
With a title like that I knew you would read on! But the truth is, we don't know exactly when we will close. If you read my blog, often, you know our line...Mount Snow will close when the snow or skier visits become sparse, whichever comes first.
Historically speaking, our average closing date is the middle of April. The earliest closing date was 2011-12 when we closed on March 25. The latest was 1995-96 when we closed on May 1. Of note was 2007-08 when we closed on April 27 with a little midweek closing and then a reopen for the wknd.
Thanks to all of our loyal skiers and riders who showed up this weekend for Reggaefest – it was a ton of fun that ended with a bluebird day. Based on attendance it is clear to us that you want to keep skiing so we plan to be open daily, through April 12.
There is a very good chance we will go beyond the 12th but we want to wait and see what Mother Nature serves up and if people keep skiing. After April 12th, we may close midweek and reopen for the weekend or if weather is good we could keep running daily – we will look at all options. And as soon as we know, we will let you know.
Before you pack the car, please check the snow report. If we see a really poor weather day, we may choose to close for a day, especially if that day is midweek.
Here are some operational updates I can share with you.
Sundance Lodge and parking lot are closed for the season. The parking lot is actually being used as a staging area to receive and weld about 50,000 ft of snowmaking pipe that will be replaced on our mountain this summer.
Tubing is closed for the season.
As of Monday, March 30:
Sunbrook closed – definitely for the midweek, possibly for the rest of the season. Do you remember when we opened Nitro Express and Beartrap Double for our final weekend? I am just saying that we like to keep our options open.
Lift ticket daily pricing:
$10 discount for afternoon tickets
Cupola closed Tues – Thur. Open FR – MO.
Tap Room closed for the season
1900 Burger closed for the season (except for Beer Pairing Dinner on April 3)
Sweet Stash open weekends only
As of April 1, all passholders are invited to ski any day of the week. Meaning, if you are a midweek or Sunday Only passholder, you can use your pass any day we are open.
As of Monday, April 6
Ski and snowboard school group lessons closed for the season. Private lessons available daily – inquire at the Clocktower.
All the trails were soft and easy at opening bell - even the naturals like Shootout. Photos taken March 26.
The slightest sign of Spring - A little grass popping up as I skied skiers right on South Bowl.
