We Got Snow!
Wednesday, December 10, 2014
Nothing complicated about that storm...we got snow! 10+ inches. Warning powder hounds, this is thick, heavy, base layer snow. There will be no epic powder puff wipe outs today - sorry. Here is the good news. This is exactly the type of snow we needed. The kind that sticks to the ground and will not budge, no matter the wind speed.
This means we will start checking natural snow trails. I expect some will be ready but skiing or riding them will be extrememly challenging. We may have to groom some but now I am getting ahead of myself.
When I woke up this morning my first task was to plunge the yard stick into the spot I cleared yesterday. 10". We'll take it.
Next, I slapped on the snowshoes and trekked out to shake the snow off my arborvitaes. I have been nursing these puppies for too many years to lose them to snowload.
Then I dug out our dish so the TV would get a signal. And finally, I dug out my car.
My husband had to help with the snowblower and then I was on my way. Driving in was beautiful. Wish it were a little lighter out so you could see what I experienced.
I will snap more photos as the day progresses but here is an early morning update for you!
7:35 am The weather forecast just came in and our guy is predicting 6-9" of snow in the next 24 hours. Right now, light rain in the base and more of a glaze at the summit. So, we need to get through some tricky weather before it changes over to snow. What I really like about the forecast is that Friday, Saturday and Sunday all look good. Some flurries but otherwise, just great days to be on the hill, hint, hint.
