All Mountain Devo 3.7-3.8.20

Wednesday, March 4, 2020

This past weekend:

Saturday:

Groups had the opportunity to practice some of the tasks that will be part of the upcoming skills day event.  As always the skills stations that were setup on lower ego focused on balance, steering, and turn shape.

Watching, it was great to see so much improvement from all our athletes.

Sunday:

What a blast everyone had on our skier cross obstacle course.  Along with the great snow and beautiful blue skies, there were smiles, giggles, friendly competition, and lots of hoots & hollars.

I think we saw some groups came through 7 or 8 times.

Plans for this weekend:

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PARENT / CHILD RACE!!!!!

As our Devo season is rapidly approaching the end, we get to enjoy one of our favorite annual events.  This is when parents are paired with their child(ren) in a side by side race down Charlie's Chase.

Saturday:

We will have a training course set on Charlie’s Chase.
Parents are invited to join us for some practice in the gates before the race.  The course will be available 10 - 12:30

Make sure to take advantage so you can keep up with your child(ren) on race day.  Coaches will be available at the start house for guidance
Please make sure you sign the Competition Race Events Waiver before you practice in the course on Saturday, or race on Sunday.
Waivers are available outside the Devo office on the second floor of the Alpine Training Center and at the top of the race course.

Sunday: The Competition is on!

The race will take place on Charlie’s Chase Trail, in a Duel Giant Slalom (GS) course format.

The race will consist of one timed run for each child / parent combo.  If a Devo athlete falls or misses a gate they may go back up to the start and take a rerun.

Our goal is to make sure every competitor gets a good timed run.

All athletes and parents will race in the same course throughout the morning to get results that are as fair as possible.

Approximate start times will be available through your child's coach at the meeting area Sunday morning.

We recommend that all Parents be at the start house 10 minutes before they are scheduled to race.   We will not hold up athlete start schedules if a parent is not present.

Devo Team Athletes will be competing for awards in the following age groups: 5/6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13+ year olds.

Medals are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd fastest individual times, male and female, in each age group. Age is based on the day of the race day.

In addition, Trophies will be awarded to the 3 fastest Parent/Child combined times.

In order to qualify for this award, Devo team members will need to compete with a Parent.  Athletes can run the race with anyone, which qualifies them for the age prize.  However, only parent/child pairings are eligible for the Parent/Child prizes

If you have multiple children in the program, and plan to race with each, please speak to your coaches to best coordinate a schedule.  Although we will try our best to make accommodations, we cannot delay starts.

If you are unable to make arrangements to be available at each child's designated start time, please let Steph/Jess know at the start.  Your first race time will then be used in combination for your children with later starts

All awards will be presented at the Development Program Ice Cream Social, Sunday March 22, at the Grand Summit Hotel Ballroom. The Ice Cream Social is held from 12:00 - 1:30.
