Alpine Comp 12.9-12.10

Wednesday, December 6, 2017

Hello Alpine Team,

With our first weekend behind us and the rain in our past we are back to winter in Southern Vermont. The long-range forecast for Sunday and into next week will be more snow and cold temps will remain.  I have posted all the U14, U12, and U10 races on the calendar on our alpine webpage at https://www.mountsnow.com/ski-ride/alpine-competitions/ . Each event has all the race information on the date at http://www.vara.org/calendar.php

All ages this weekend on SL skis. Every weekend we will be working on building a solid foundation of stance & balance and continuing the low edge angle warm up every day on hill.  The best racers in the world are able to ski very slow and continue turning their legs and keeping the ankles flexed in the boots with a useful pole swing.  This will help us in our Skills Quest tasks and to develop a pre-skiing/race warm-up.

U16/19 gate session will be 11:00-2:30 on Saturday and Sunday. At 2:00 we would like to have a meeting to go over the proposed schedule for December and January in the Training center. If you can’t make it, we will post the races on our website (calendar link is above).

U14 will work on skills and coaches will let you know Saturday if you should bring you SL gear for Sunday.

U12/U10 will be skiing with groups and working on skills and stance all weekend.
