Watch: Patroller Skip Kost
"I don't consider this a job. It's a hobby. It's fun."
For Skip Kost, leaving his office in Connecticut to drive north to the mountains every weekend is part of the routine. He spends his weekends on the Mount Snow Ski Patrol helping others and giving back to the mountain community he fell in love with long ago. For Skip, patrolling isn’t a job, it’s a way to get outdoors and spend time with his mountain family.
WATCH: groomer cleon boyd
"And I think I’m not the best, but pretty hard to beat when it comes to grooming"
Cleon Boyd has been grooming at Mount Snow since 1976, and he loves it more than anything. While all of us are sleeping, Cleon is pushing and shaping the snow so we all can enjoy it in the morning. After following in his father's footsteps, Cleon is proud of the work he does, and looks forward to that beautiful mountain sunrise every morning.
WATCH: snowmaker randy barrows
"We've easily got 30 days worth of full-tilt operating. Now all of a sudden we got a super soaker and it's just unreal."
As the head of snowmaking for the most powerful snowmaking system in the Northeast, Randy Barrows never has a dull moment. His old fears of running out of water are no more, as West Lake has provided him with a nearly unlimited source. He leads his team not from the office, but instead, he's on the front line of each snowmaking push, guiding his team on the hill with 35 years of Mount Snow snowmaking experience.
