GM Blog: Dec 10 Opening Day!

Wednesday, December 7, 2011

At times like these it is important to keep it short and sweet.

Short: Mount Snow plans to open for the season on Saturday, Dec 10th!

Sweet: Mount Snow plans to open for the season on Saturday, Dec 10th!

Applause for the snowmakers and Mother Nature who are determined to look adversity in the face and laugh. Seriously, the amount of snow that needs to be made and groomed in 60+ hours is significant but when our head of snowmaking, Randy, says that he can do it, he usually does. Randy is one to under promise and over deliver – you know the type. Needless to say, I have great confidence in the Mount Snow snowmaking team so I would start packing the gear and call the dog sitter.

Only because the weather has been completely nuts lately, I throw out this disclaimer. Mount Snow “plans” to open on Saturday, Dec 10th, weather permitting.

Here’s the plan (subject to change)

We plan to open the following trails: Cascade, Canyon, Long John, Mineshaft & The Gulch (with park features), Beaver, Launch Pad

Note: If we cannot connect Long John back to the Main Base Area, you will end up at Carinthia. When you are finished skiing at Carinthia, you will get back to the Main Base area via the Moover shuttle.

Lifts: Nitro Express, Canyon Express, Bluebird Express and Discovery Shuttle.

Note: The Bluebird Express will hold its Grand opening celebration on Saturday and will not open until 9 am. The Grand Summit Express will open at 8 am and continue to bring guests to the summit until the Bluebird is running.

The following lodges will be open: Main Base, Carinthia and Summit.

Our season long Development program will be postponed for 1 weekend. The competition programs (alpine, snowboard and freestyle) will meet as originally scheduled.
