alpine plan 2.17.2016

Thursday, February 18, 2016

Hello Alpine Team,

We have had a tough time this winter and the weather keeps on testing us.  Saturday looks like some mixed precipitation and Sunday looks like we’ll have some nice weather.   Please keep warming up slow and make sure that you are practicing your feedback from you coaches.  If they ask you to do something different and it feels different or weird, that is a good thing. Your body isn’t used to this new movement and must practice until it feels normal. This takes lots of runs for the movement pattern to change.

This weekend will have training for:

U16/19- train SL Saturday AM and GS in the afternoon before our team travels to states for the state championship.

U14- training SL Saturday AM and GS in the afternoon before Sunday’s race at Stratton.

Next weekend you have skills Saturday and Bromley and SL Magic Sunday.

U12- GS Race at Stratton tomorrow, and Stubbie training Sunday

See note from Mount Snow Senior Management on 2/17/2016 below about GS cancelled this weekend:

Mount Snow has decided to cancel the SVC U12 Giant Slalom scheduled for South Bowl on Sunday, Feb 21 due to lack of snow.  Like everyone, we were hit hard by the rain yesterday.  We pushed out the snow this morning to see if we could get the appropriate width and fell short in a many areas. This is one of the hardest snowmaking decisions we have had to make this year is not to fire up snowmaking on South Bowl to make more snow in time for Sunday’s event.

In order to guarantee the depth and width on South Bowl we would have to make snow for approximately 24 hours, depleting most of our resources.  We regret that we will be disappointing so many young ski racers and their families.  We will send all SVC U 12 racers on the start list (2) vouchers to visit Mount Snow within a year and hope that you will enjoy a fun day of free skiing.  Thank you in advance for your understanding.

U10- training Stubbies and Brushes both days this weekend.

Thinking snow,

Wayne Conn
