Mount Snow Announces Dates for Tough Mudder New England 2017
Mount Snow, VT. – July 20, 2016 – Mount Snow is pleased to announce the return of global endurance event leader, Tough Mudder, to the Southern Vermont mountain resort for its seventh straight year, with 2017’s event scheduled for June 24-25, 2017. This yearly destination Mudder event draws thousands of participants and spectators from all over the United States and Canada for the unofficial kickoff of a summer full of events at Mount Snow. The 10-12 mile team-based event is the leading obstacle course challenge that’s designed to test physical strength, mental grit and teamwork.
Tough Mudder New England, as this stop is known, has consistently received some of the highest reviews of any venue out of the 200+ events worldwide that Tough Mudder has put on. For 2017, the course will once again make use of Mount Snow’s varied and steep terrain, and will feature mud, ice-cold water, barbed wire, electric shocks and other challenges that the Tough Mudder design team has dreamt up over the years. It’s this terrain, paired with the close proximity to major metro areas, base area facilities, experience hosting large-scale events and shared history with the rise of obstacle racing, that all factored into Tough Mudder’s desire to return for 2017.
In what has become a tradition over the years, the local community greets the thousands of Tough Mudder participants and spectators with enthusiasm and support as they arrive into town, with many local businesses donning the trademark orange and black banners and Tough Mudder welcome signs.
“While it’s our facilities and world-class terrain that play host to the actual event, we couldn’t do it without the help and support of the community and businesses of Southern Vermont Deerfield Valley,” said Tim Dolan, Mount Snow’s events manager. “While the run is the main focus of the weekend, it’s great to see local businesses and lodging accommodations fill up with Mudders before and after the event, who all enjoy and appreciate what our valley has to offer.”
This will be the eighth Tough Mudder New England that Mount Snow has hosted in the past seven years, with the first event occurring back in May of 2011. Mount Snow is proud to maintain one of the longest standing relationships with Tough Mudder of any venue on their global schedule.
“We are incredibly excited to bring Tough Mudder New England to Mount Snow again in 2017 and to deliver this experience to thousands of new and returning Mudders,” said Courtney Jordan, event director for Tough Mudder New England. “Our strong partnership with Mount Snow and the local community was a key factor in our decision to return in 2017. We look forward to partnering with them once again, as well as working closely with local business and stakeholders to provide a positive economic impact on the region, as Mudders travel near and far to see what’s in store.”
